A campus dining hall is more than a place for students and faculty to enjoy their daily meals. It is also an integral part of campus life and the wider social experience.
Since the partnership began in 2021, Aden has supported the Shanghai American School Puxi community with safe, healthy and diverse campus dining services.
The newly renovated dining hall has recently opened its doors, providing a more comfortable environment and a wider selection of food. Beyond upgrading the dining experience, Aden has integrated digital modelling and facility operations technology into the design and management of the space, delivering improvements across food quality, food safety and back-of-house efficiency.
Three highlights of the upgraded campus dining experience
1. Diverse flavors for students of all ages
With its long history and diverse student community, Shanghai American School serves students across a wide range of age groups. At the Puxi campus, Aden’s food service team prepares approximately 1,700 meals each day for students, faculty and staff.
To meet a variety of dietary preferences, the menu brings together classic Chinese dishes, Western favourites and Japanese cuisine. Aden’s professional nutritionists also develop balanced meal combinations tailored to the nutritional and developmental needs of different age groups, ensuring that every meal delivers both flavour and nourishment.
2. Rigorous standards for food safety and wellbeing
Food safety is a fundamental part of effective campus operations. Aden follows the ISO 22000 and HACCP international food safety management systems, applying rigorous standards throughout the entire food service process, from ingredient sourcing and supplier qualification to delivery inspection, preparation, cooking and on-site service.
A comprehensive supply chain management system also enables key ingredients to be traced back to their source, providing a reliable foundation for safe and healthy meals across the campus.
3. Smarter, more efficient and lower-carbon operations with Akila
The upgrade extends beyond food service. Aden has also deployed the Akila digital platform to support facility management at the Shanghai American School Puxi campus.
By integrating digital twin and Internet of Things technologies, the operations team can monitor the performance of critical kitchen and dining equipment in real time and manage it through a visual interface. This helps maintain the reliability and continuity of essential back-of-house operations.
The platform also tracks and helps optimize data relating to food waste, energy consumption and carbon emissions, providing ongoing data support for the school’s sustainability ambitions and lower-carbon operations.
Building a better campus experience
Safe, healthy and efficient support services provide the foundation for a well-functioning campus. Through high-quality food services and continued digital innovation, Aden will continue to support Shanghai American School Puxi and other education clients with reliable, professional integrated facility management and dining solutions, helping create better campus experiences for every community.
